The Fastest Growing Language On Twitter Today Is Arabic

A recently-released blog on thenextweb.com writes about the results of a study compiled by a Paris based agency, which says that the fastest growing language used on Twitter today is the Arabic language. According to the agency called Semiocast, just over a year ago, only 30,000 tweets were sent in Arabic. Last month, approximately 2.2 million tweets were posted in the Arabic language.

The Paris agency's findings has found that the top 5 languages in use on Twitter are English, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish and Malay in that order. However, Arabic has stood out purely because of its massive growth rate within a year.

The blog goes on to say that the reason for this is due to the fact that Arabic content has increased overall over the internet with social networks and e-commerce also becoming popular in the Middle-East.
