Business Jargon Invades Politics

It appears that corporate buzzwords which are used mainly in the business environment, have invaded politics. Politicians are increasingly using business jargon such as 'going forward', 'level playing field' and 'touch base' during speeches.

It is said that using this business language makes politicians and their rhetoric, seem more authoritative to the general public.

Several American and British politicians are guilty of using corporate jargon during their speeches. British Prime Minister David Cameron, and even US President Barack Obama have been known to pepper their words with business-speak.

Other examples of corporate buzzwords often heard by politicians include 'ballpark figure', 'return on investment' and 'moving forward'.
