Give Gratitude On Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday in November and traditionally began as a celebration to give thanks for the harvest each year. It’s also celebrated on the second Monday in October in Canada. It's one of the biggest holidays of the year and a time for families and friends to gather, share a dinner, while expressing gratitude for the blessings of the year.

The origins of Thanksgiving trace back to 1621 when Pilgrims and Native Americans joined hands in Plymouth, Massachusetts, to celebrate a successful harvest. This symbolic feast, expressing mutual goodwill, gratitude and unity, laid the foundation for the tradition we know today. The first Thanksgiving in Canada is attributed to Martin Frobisher, an explorer who held a feast of gratitude after his safe journey in 1578.

The traditional Thanksgiving dinner includes a baked or roasted turkey with stuffing, cranberry sauce and pumpkin or apple pie for dessert. In New York City, the famous department store Macy's holds the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade every year on Thanksgiving Day, with many fanciful floats, dance displays and marching bands.

Thanksgiving is a heart warming reminder of the power of gratitude and the importance of coming together in unity. As families and friends gather around tables laden with love and gratitude, the essence of Thanksgiving transcends borders and cultures.
