Help Protect Yourself Against Dementia By Learning A Language
Recent studies made by research at York University, Toronto, Canada suggests that learning a language could make you more resilient to developing dementia later in life.
Learning a second language not only exercises your brain but also makes it work harder which could potentially make you less likely to get dementia or at the very least, delay the onset of the disease.
The research done by York University found that patients who had developed dementia and were at least bilingual, developed the disease three to four years later than those who were monolingual.
Alzeimer's Research UK (a leading dementia research charity in the UK) welcomes the research but stated that more research is needed to help combat the disease.
