Emma Watson Jokes About Language Barriers

Emma Watson, famed for her role in Harry Potter, recently shared a light-hearted tale on encountering a 'language barrier' in the US during her appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman. In November 2010, Watson humorously admitted her surprise at the extensive 'culture gap' she faced when she moved from England to the US. Despite anticipating only minor language differences, she found herself struggling to communicate with her American college friends in everyday situations. She told David Letterman that she hadn't realised "how big the culture gap would be". "I thought it would just be... a few very minor language differences, but actually I find day-to-day there are things I am unable to communicate," she said on the show.

During the CBS show, Watson recounted amusing instances of confusion. She humorously described seeking a plaster for a bleeding wound, only to realize that her American friends were unfamiliar with the term. It took a perplexing five to six minutes to establish that she was actually seeking a Band-Aid.
