Cornish Language Classed As Extinct

UN linguistics experts have branded the Cornish language extinct, which has sparked protest from speakers.

Cornish is believed to have died out as a first language in 1777, however the Cornish Language Partnerships claims that the number of speakers has risen in the last 20 years. The activists argue that there should be a section for 'revitalised' languages in the 'Atlas of the World's Languages in Danger', published by Unesco.
