Celebrate Cinco De Mayo
The 5th of May or Cinco de Mayo is commemorated every year in the state of Puebla in Mexico. This day commemorates the victory of the Mexican militia against the French Army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
It is also celebrated in other parts of Mexico and in the USA in areas where there is a large Mexican population.
Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexican culture, food, music and drink - Mexican beer is often drunk!
Several cities in the US hold parades and concerts during the week leading up to the 5th May. It is said that the festivities in the States are now more prolific than anything seen in Mexico itself.
