at Work 2001
A global
survey by www.languageadvantage.com
|
|
Language
skills wasted
by world's businesses
The
good news:
There's
a rich skill base of languages at work
Lots of you are learning a language
You
realise that you're working in multicultural and multilingual
workplaces
You realise that languages are important for your work
The
bad news:
You're
wasting more languages than you're learning
The
more languages you've got, the more you're wasting them
Many
of you aren't offering language services at work, and even
if you do, you're not using them
You've
not got a strategic or even co-ordinated view on using languages
at work

Languages
and cultural awareness are important for all organisations,
all sectors, all job roles, whether you're operating globally
or locally, wherever you are in the world.
They're
not just for export.
